A Love Like That

In a moment I want you to close your eyes. I want to share with you a thought, or an idea that resonates within me, the dreamer.

The sun is setting in the distant while we are making our way down an old country road and this old Camaro is running well today. It’s hot, not too hot and the cool summer’s eve breeze is rolling in through the windows which are rolled all the way down.

You have one foot on the dash, the other hanging out the window. Laid back in your seat with your sunglasses on, country music on the radio which you can hear if you listen to closely, but the sound of the Camaro’s heartbeat is empowering all the while calming.

I’m happy, maybe the happiest I have been in years because in this moment, I have everything I could ever need, and no one can take that away from me. Far away from the rest of the world, safe and sound in my very own fortress of solitude, which I would only ever want to share with you.

You’re smiling, so widely you’ve never been freer. This is our moment, no one can take that from us. The feeling of flying as we peak the tops of hills, each turn more tightly, every wide open stretch more swiftly.

This is the closest to fearless I ever want to be, and in this moment as my hand meets yours it all makes sense.

We pull off the road into an old farmer’s field, the sun has set and the fireflies are setting the scene. We lay out a blanket but find our way to the hood of the car, one kiss leads to the next, and soon after clothes start sliding off.

In an instant we give into temptation, now that all the obstacles and awkward firsts are behind us, we’ve never felt safer than in this moment. This may be dream, I may be a dreamer, but who wouldn’t want a love like that.
